"Springtime Joy"

I am enjoying painting abstracts in acrylics because the medium is so direct and layers so beautifully. This painting, “Springtime Joy ” is a playful light-filled image that draws the viewer in, around and into the painting. Small visual gems await closer observation. This painting started with a full color underpainting, then layer upon layer to bring this image forward. The painting captures the joy I feel when the hundreds of bulbs begin to bloom in the gardens, coupled with the idea of earth’s energy moving in an upward direction once again emerging from winter’s slumber. 3rd Place Award Abstracts, Central Indiana Artists Exhibition.
